No. A positive result from this screener means you appear to meet general eligibility criteria based on the factors you selected. It is not an official determination of eligibility and does not guarantee benefits. Official Medicaid eligibility is determined solely by your state or territorial Medicaid agency after a complete formal application, clinical assessment, asset verification, and review of household composition.
South Carolina is an income cap state: the $2,901/month hard cap applies and no spend-down is available for long-term care Medicaid. Virginia is NOT an income cap state for all pathways; medical expense deductions may apply in certain cases. The USVI has separate income limits for the ABD and General tracks. A Lar Care specialist can review your full situation.
Absolutely. Many of our inquiries come from adult children or spouses seeking coverage for a loved one. The screener and consultation process are designed to help in exactly those situations.
No. The U.S. Virgin Islands operates Medicaid under 42 CFR Part 436 as a territory program. It does not have an HCBS Waiver like SC or VA. Home care is delivered through the State Plan Home Health benefit. Importantly, prior authorization is always required for all home health services in the USVI. Contact USVI DHS at (340) 774-0930 or dhs.vi.gov for details.
Processing times vary by state, typically 30 to 90 days after a complete application is submitted. Note that the SC Community Choices Waiver and VA CCC+ Waiver may have waiting lists, as slots are capped. Apply as soon as possible to establish your place in line.
